Commissioned by one of London’s Business Improvement Districts, Team London Bridge, In a Field by a Bridge ‘was meticulously designed and delivered for the London Bridge area’ (Team London Bridge) and is a celebration of one of the most culturally innovative and sustainable districts in London.
Celebrating everything that Potters Fields Park, St John’s Churchyard and the London Bridge neighbourhood have to offer; merging green spaces, evocative history, a diverse resident community, and thriving businesses for a joyous weekend, highlighting low impact living and healthy lifestyles to create positive social and economic longevity far beyond the launch weekend.
The inaugural event took place in July 2023 to roaring success with over 30,000 people visiting over the weekend, and brilliant media engagement including being placed within the Guardian’s top ten UK free festivals.
Audiences enjoyed powering the main stage by pedal power whilst taking in the iconic view of the River Thames; participated in a mass clay building workshop celebrating the history of the pottery-making in the area, in the shadow of the world famous Tower Bridge; joined talks and debates on subjects such as climate anxiety, grass roots urban climate activism, and green & blue social prescribing in London; participated in a range of creative workshops from natural dyeing with food waste to creating wind-powered wonders from old materials. Whilst younger guests enjoyed making some noise in the Soundgarden – a circular collection of tuned musical instruments made entirely from recycled materials, rescued from the city industry, as well as performances by The London Vegetable Orchestra.
In addition to Team London Bridge and Potters Fields Park Management Trust, we worked with a fantastic array of partners including London National Park City, Beyond Food + Brigade, Tower Bridge, TBC.London, and Morley College to name but a few.
